The lifecell UA SIM card support international roaming in most countries worldwide at basic tariffs. In the EU, calls and mobile data work under similar conditions as in Ukraine, though with slightly reduced allowances — this is known as "Roaming Like at Home". For travelers requiring large amounts of mobile data, the most cost-effective option is the "Additional Roaming" promotion, available in 36 countries at special rates.Countries where promotional internet roaming is available: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores), Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including the Balearic and Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican City.
To start using the card, insert it into the phone, if your phone doesn't find the network automatically, you need to select it manually in your phone's settings: Settings → SIM cards and mobile networks → lifecell SIM card → mobile networks. Turn off automatic network search and select one of the 4G, LTE or 5G services from the available list. Don't worry if a network is listed as "forbidden" or "unavailable" under its name, you should still try to connect to it. In Poland, Orange is lifecell's roaming partner network, so make sure to select Orange.

If a lifecell SIM card registers on a roaming network but has no active tariff plan, or if the plan has not been paid for, incoming calls and SMS messages will be unavailable — even if the card was previously activated in Ukraine. Access to outgoing services will, of course, also be restricted. For full functionality, a tariff must be activated and funded. To obtain the most favorable rates, it is also recommended to add supplementary services.
There are several options for activating tariffs and additional services on a lifecell SIM card while roaming. The choice of the most suitable option depends primarily on which operator services will be used most frequently.Since the majority of subscribers are looking for the maximum data allowance at the lowest possible price, the "Additional Roaming" service is the most cost-effective solution. However, there is one important condition to keep in mind: to activate this service, any base tariff must first be active on the mobile number. How to optimize costs? It is recommended to choose the most affordable base plan, "Gadget security". For only 135 UAH per 12-week period, a subscriber receives an excellent base of services for unrestricted communication within EU countries:📶 150 MB of high-speed internet daily;📞 15 minutes per day (for calls to Ukrainian numbers and numbers of the host country);💬 15 SMS per day (to Ukrainian numbers and host country numbers).Unlimited incoming calls and SMS are also included. This serves as an ideal base plan for a nominal fee, to which additional gigabytes can subsequently be added on highly favorable terms.
What is the "Additional Roaming" service? With this service, you can activate one of the following internet packages: ✔ 5 GB for 7 days – 150 UAH ✔ 15 GB for 14 days – 250 UAH ✔ 40 GB for 21 days – 550 UAH
If your lifecell SIM card has detected a network, follow these 3 steps to activate the service:
1. Activate a tariff using a USSD code or in the My lifecell app
To activate, enter the USSD code *510# on your phone’s dial pad, press the call button, then select 1 and confirm by pressing 1 again.
To enable the "Gadget Security" plan through the app, tap the house icon at the bottom center, then go to the "Tariffs" section and select "see all" From the available tariffs, choose "Gadget Security," tap "Activate tariff," and then tap "Switch". The app will immediately prompt you to pay for the plan, and you need to do this using a bank card, Google Pay, or Apple Pay.
2. Top-up your account
⚠ Before topping up:Turn off mobile data in your phone settings (Wi-Fi can stay on).Switch your network mode to 2G.After activation and GB allocation, you can turn mobile data back on and switch to 4G or 5G.Why is this important?❗ If you don’t disable mobile data and switch to 2G, your phone may automatically connect to the internet at standard roaming rates, deducting your balance and preventing roaming package activation.
Top up your account with an amount sufficient to cover both the tariff fee (135 UAH) and your chosen roaming package (150 UAH, 250 UAH, or 550 UAH).
3. Order the "Additional Roaming" service
To activate, enter the USSD code *108*2# on your phone, press the call button, select the GB amount (1, 2, or 3), and confirm by pressing 1.You can also do this on the top-up page or in the app while topping up your account. You need to enter a top-up amount of 0 UAH and, in the "Promotional Roaming" section, select either "Additional Roaming: 15 GB" or "Additional Roaming: 40 GB" (it is not possible to activate the 5 GB package this way). After that, you should proceed to pay for the service.
After activation, you will receive an SMS confirmation with the allocated GB.To check your remaining GB, re-enter the USSD code *108*2#.
ℹ You can order this service multiple times.
In cases where a Ukrainian number while roaming is required primarily for account registrations (receiving SMS messages) or for minimal use of internet, calls, and texts, the "Gadget Security" base plan is perfectly sufficient. Under such circumstances, activating the "Additional Roaming" service is not necessary.
There are also other tariff plans available, although they are less cost-effective for solely using mobile data in Europe. These plans are, however, an ideal solution for individuals making frequent phone calls from the EU to Ukrainian or local numbers, as well as for those regularly travelling between Ukraine and the European Union. Another benefit of these offers is a longer validity time for data packages. Below is a brief overview of these tariffs and the ways to activate them:
Previously, after 56 days from SIM card activation, Lifecell users could activate special roaming tariffs with large data packages — for example, 40 or even 50 GB of internet. However, as of 25.06.2025 and 26.11.2025, the operator has changed the terms, and similar tariffs are no longer available.
You can top up your account using a bank card on the Lifecell website https://oplata.lifecell.ua, in the "My lifecell" application (Balance → Top up) or top-up lifecell through Allegro. You can top up for any amount from 20 hryvnias (UAH).Do not select or pay for any additional services when topping up (Internet, minutes, sms), as these are intended for use in Ukraine only and will not work in roaming. An exception is the situation when you plan to activate the "Additional Roaming" service. In this case, the top-up amount should be 0 UAH, and in the "Promotional roaming" section, you need to select the appropriate 15 GB or 40 GB package.
● Checking the balance of gigabytes for roaming*108*5#● Ordering the service Additional roaming and checking the remaining gigabytes *108*2#● Account balance check *111#● Ordering a new package of services before the expiration of the previous one *700#● Checking the balance of roaming minutes for calls to Ukraine *108*4#● Check phone number and tariff *161#● Changing the language of communication with Lifecell (UKR/ENG) *133#● Number validity period *121#
Keeping a lifecell SIM card with no assigned tariff connected to a roaming network is not recommended. The operator may block it, and restoration would be very problematic.
IN UKRAINE, THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO REGISTER A SIM CARD (eSim) - THE NUMBER IS COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS.
You can change the tariff plan in the My lifecell application, but if you do not know the detailed conditions of the tariff plan you plan to switch to, don't rush to do so, it is better to consult with the seller. The conditions of tariffs in roaming differ from those in Ukraine. To change the tariff, you need to top up your account for the cost of the new plan and make a request in the application or dial the USSD code.
We wish you a pleasant use!
Lifecell provides a Ukrainian IP address, so it may happen that some internet services or streaming platforms (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, 23Max, Filmbox+, CANAL+ Online, Viaplay and TV Smart Go) will not work in the EU. Geoblocking is a problem that especially affects people traveling in Europe or living in countries with limited access to popular platforms. To solve this problem, we recommend using Surfshark VPN. Tests have shown that this VPN provider has the best results and is relatively cheap.
VPN is a reliable solution that allows you to bypass restrictions by offering a virtual change of location. This allows the user to assign themselves an IP address of a country where access to the platform is possible.
Surfshark VPN not only allows you to access streaming platforms, but also ensures security and privacy on the internet. By encrypting your data and hiding your IP address, you can use the network without worrying about tracking or regional restrictions.
What's more, Surfshark VPN allows you to use the service on multiple devices at the same time, which is ideal for the whole family.
